Sorry, there hasn't been a post on here for some time. Not been focussed on my Teden ancestors of late, because the New Zealand government launched a website for birth, marriage and death indices (see http://bdmhistoricalrecords.identityservices.govt.nz/Home/) so I've been doing lots of work on NZ branches of my and my partner's families.
On the Teden descendants, I confirmed 5 definite children of Florence Teden (formerly Teden Denman) and Herbert Albert King. I have note of another daughter called Babs, but I'm not sure if that's short for Barbara or if it's short for Baby (as it is for my partner's gran) as the youngest of the family - a cutesy version of the American 'Junior'.
I am also sad to announce the death last year of Beryl Rome, the daughter of Edith Lilian Teden, aged 89.

Seeking TEDEN descendants
I've recently been trying to trace some of the descendants of my great-great-aunts, the sisters of Arthur TEDEN DENMAN b1876.
Today I received the birth certificate of his sister Florence's son, William Herbert KING, born in 1906. I would really like to get in touch with any of Florence's surviving children or grandchildren to find out what happened to her as an adult.
I should say this also goes for ANY Teden descendants - so please do get in touch!

New TEDEN website goes live
Finally I am proud to say that my TEDEN-dedicated website went live last night! This may be found at www.teden.name and has information on the family that begins with my own ancestor, William John TEDEN in England, the family of William James TEDEN of Northern Ireland (whose descendants moved first to Scotland and then to the USA) and the family of a Swedish man called TEDEN who emigrated to the USA.
I am keen to find out more about the Swedish-American Tedens, so great if anyone reads this from their family and could get in touch - I firmly believe your ancestor holds the key to the origins of the TEDEN surname.

Teden by deed poll
In looking through all the births, marriages and deaths for England and Wales, I came across one which wouldn't tie in with anything else - the marriage in 1952 of Gladys Mary Teden to a Mr Lessels in Worthing. I couldn't find a birth of a Gladys Mary Teden, nor a marriage of a Mr Teden to a woman called Gladys.
Recently, I cracked this mystery - in 1948, Gladys changed her name by deed poll from Woodbridge to Teden (see the London Gazette archive). But I am still puzzled as to why she chose Teden as her new name; what was the significance?

New blog for the Teden family!
I've been researching the history of the TEDEN family since my grandma died in 2002. Her maiden name was Teden, but I never really asked her about her family before she died.
Her grandfather was Edward Teden, who was the direct ancestor of every single Teden living in the UK today. He married twice and had 17 children by his two wives.
As part of my research, I've transcribed all the births, marriages and deaths from the GRO indices for England and Wales, so if you're interested in the Teden family, I have all the information. Only 2 of the 193 entries between 1837 to 1999 have not yet been attributed to Edward's parents or their descendants.
I have been a member of the Guild of One-Name Studies since 2004 and it was from their journal that I got the idea for doing this blog! What I'd like to achieve from this blog is to keep any relatives interested in the family informed about the progress of any research I'm doing.
